August 2016
2016 has been a challenging year for me as I struggle to overcome some health problems. In spite of this, Keeper has once again kept her ranking as one of the top five Afghan Hounds competing in AKC Agility trials, this year moving up from number 3 to number 2. I remain hopeful about getting back into the ring with Keeper this year to complete her Master Standard title. Only 2 more "Q's!" We plan to "Keep" trying! August 2015 As the #3 Afghan Hound competing in AKC Agility trials Keeper is invited to participate at the 10th Annual AKC Agility Invitational. Only the top 5 dogs in each breed are invited to attend. I am proud of you Keeper! January 2015 Keeper continues to make progress in her Agility career. She has moved from Novice, to Open, to Excellent and is now competing on the Masters Level. I am so proud of my super smart girl. As we both gain confidence in this new (to us) venue we hope to Keep(er) getting better and faster! August 1, and 2, 2014 My first dog show was the Evergreen AHC Specialty in 1981. It seems fitting that my last show 33 years later was also the Evergreen AHC Specialty. It's been a rocky road for Freebie who did not start his dog show career until he was 16 months old due to puppyhood injuries. After many stops and starts, Freebie finished his show career in style earning his Championship title entirely from the BBE Classes going WD, BOW & Best BBE under Breeder Judge Betsy Hufnagel (Cavu) at the EAHC's 42nd Annual Specialty Show making him: Champion Kaimar's The Truth Will Set You Free. The following day in his first (and last) appearance as a Special at EAHC's Designated Specialty Show Freebie goes BOS under Breeder Judge Rachel Irvin (Elan). Thank you to these two well regarded Breeder Judges for your recognition. It was a weekend we will not soon forget. You will see Freebie next in the Agility Ring as he joins his sister jumping on and over stuff. ;-) Good boy "Free-Bird." You make your Mommy very proud. Thank you Carolyn Swadley (tru'gait) for this Special Photo. November 24, 2013 True to our promise, one week after completing her American Championship title Keeper goes back to Agility competition. True to HER promise, Keeper earns double Q's, 2 First Placements, 2 Second Placements, and a new Agility title: NA (Novice Agility) at the Evergreen AHC Agility Trials. We are proud her most recent accomplishments occurred at the Evergreen AHC trial. :-) Way to go Keeper! We love you and we are so proud of you. November 17, 2013Keeper earns her American Championship finishing her title entirely from the Bred By Exhibitor classes. She is the first dog I have ever finished from "Bred By" and it wasn't easy! I am so proud of you my beautiful girl. Only Agility competitions for you from now on. I promise. I know you think conformation is bor-ring! ;) September 25, 2013 Here is Keeper at the AHCA National Specialty Agility Trial in Portland, OR. Keeper made us so proud - earning a double "Q" and 1st place in her Standard run, 2nd place in her JWW run. Her "Q" in Jumpers class gave us her 1st Agility title: NJP - Novice Jumpers Preferred. Go Keeper! June 30, 2013 Freebie and Judge Lou Guerrero After taking the winter off Freebie re-enters the show ring winning the Breed from the classes over Specials Competition under Breed Specialist Mr. Lou Guerrero (Genesis Afghan Hounds). Freebie continued his winning ways by going Hound Group 1 under Mr. Kent Delaney. Fantastic wins under respected judges. A day we won't soon forget. Fly "Freebird" fly! March 15, 2013 Keeper Jumping Her Way To Her First "Q" I am so proud of Keeper - at her second AKC Agility Trial - Keeper earns her first "Q" in Novice JWW (Jumpers With Weaves) and a 4th Place! *Update: June 16, 2013 - Keeper earns her second "Q" and a first place at the EGRC Trial! You go girl! August 4, 2012 Victory Hug with Mr. Morton. Freebie wonders if we know it's over 100 Degrees outside? (We knew)! After all the ups and downs in Freebie's short life respected Breeder Judge John Roger Morton of Jorogz' fame awards Freebie WD for a 5 point major at the Evergreen Afghan Hound Club Specialty on August 4, 2012. Thank you Mr. Morton for a day I will never forget. Sending a special thank you to my friend Megan Osterhus for this great candid photo that captured the emotion of the day. August 3, 2012 Keeper in the Specials ring after winning WB, BOW, BBE @ Evergreen AHC Specialty. Keeper starts her show career in style by going WB, BOW, BBE for 5 points at the Evergreen Afghan Hound Club Specialty under Breeder Judge C. Gill Ullom. This was a special day for many reasons, not the least of which is the honor of winning with four generations of Kaimar Afghan Hounds under Mr. Ullom. Keeper's Mother "Rita" was WB, BOW @ the AHC of Greater Milwaukee under Mr. Ullom. Keeper's Grandmother "Lilli" finished her Championship going WB, BOW, BOS at the EAHC Specialty show 12 years ago in 2000. And finally, nine years before that in 1993 Keeper's Great Grand Uncle "Stedman" finished his Championship going WD at the AHC of Northern CA Specialty - becoming my very first homebred Champion. Thank you Mr. Ullom for consistantly recognizing and rewarding 4 generations of Kaimar Hounds.
